The Istanbul Airport Museum, which opened on July 17, 2020, stands as the world’s largest airport museum, occupying an area of 1000 square meters. The museum aims to host a new temporary exhibition each year. Its inaugural exhibition, titled “Treasures of Turkey; Faces of the Throne,” intends to narrate the 12,000-year history of Anatolia through the theme of “Governance and Rulers.” This exhibit is like a miniature “Museum of Anatolian Civilizations,” showcasing over 300 artifacts that span from prehistoric times through the Hittite, Urartu, Phrygian, Lydian, Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk, Ottoman, and the Republic of Turkey periods. These artifacts, 316 in total, are selected from 29 different museums across Turkey, offering visitors a glimpse into Turkey’s millennia-old history.
